Bio
When I landed upon this tactile three-dimensional form, my output as an artist became unstoppable, my capacity for different expression bottomless. The act and serendipity of using found textiles fueled my imagination.
Raised by an art historian in New York City I grew up in museums and art galleries. In college I curated, in my twenties I went to art school to make a career in graphic design but found the fine arts too enticing. For a few years I focused on expressionist pastel portraiture.
I bound a chap book of illustrated poems, got married, moved to Massachusetts and raised children, running a niche online business using my playful illustrations.
I lived without a studio for many years, working in corners, dreaming of a deeper focus onart. Covid revived collaging.
I had my first show in 2021. I began to collage with textile, exploring soft sculpture for the first time. I found my medium. I was in two group shows and joined Instagram. Posting every day, I became increasingly productive (obsessed?). My first solo show, Inner Beasties in 2022 was extended to three months and was covered in several local papers. In 2023 two solo shows followed, the last in a large gallery at Greenfield Community College. My artist’s talk was well received. I have two shows upcoming in Fall 2024.
I cannot imagine life without making.
